The successful candidate will take a creative, social-first approach to storytelling, developing high-quality video and photo content to deliver content across the departments portfolio. The candidate will need to be an expert in creating content for Meta, X and YouTube and in general have a solid understanding across all social channels.
The videographer and editor will lead on end-to-end video and photo production for all Junior Minister visits. This role combines content creation expertise with project management and strategic thinking to develop engaging digital stories, create innovative new formats and build our reach across platforms. It also requires excellent people management skills and relationship building.
Working hand-in-hand with Ministers, stakeholders and other creative and strategic specialists, you’ll produce high-quality digital content, champion visual storytelling and continually push the envelope with new social formats and trends.
Reporting to the Video Content lead but sitting within the strategy unit alongside private office, this position offers significant scope for professional growth and development in a department that truly touches on every part of the United Kingdom. You’ll apply your proven track record in content production to help reach new audiences, implement innovative content approaches and communicate transport priorities and policies to the public from, highlighting and championing the work of our ministerial team.
This fast-paced role requires high-end video and photography skills and an expert understanding of how to create content that cuts through on social. The successful candidate will be equally at home swapping out a DSLR camera to pick up a phone and put together a quick mobile edit. You will need to be comfortable directing and producing Senior Stakeholders, as well as possessing strong organisational skills and have the capacity to deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines while maintaining a flexible, solution-focused approach. In this fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same, frequent travel will be required to support production on departmental visits, which helps to explain how transport policy affects people's daily lives.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Ideate, develop and produce innovative, high-quality social content optimised for departmental channels including high-profile announcements, long-term campaigns, case studies, interviews with the public, and working with influencers and content creators.
- Collaborate with other video producers, designers, strategists, video, design and social leads to ensure visual consistency across all the department’s digital content.
- Lead production of creative content for major Junior Minister announcements and campaign moments.
- Draw on knowledge of emerging trends in digital and social media and apply this knowledge to projects to continuously improve upon original content and the visual design style of our content.
- Use insight gained to assess the effectiveness of content used on social/digital media channels and to recognise patterns and trends, drawing key conclusions to help improve the impact of our digital communication.
- Build effective relationships with Ministers, colleagues, and stakeholders to optimise digital engagement.
- Champion video and photography production, sharing expertise to build capability across communication teams and the wider Department.
- Planning and shooting content on location, with regular travel as required by the role.
