This post is fixed term from 01/04/2026 until 31/03/2027. Please seek permission from your current line manager first if applying for a secondment position.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a 12 month Research Project Manager for the ColoCap Trial.

You will join a national study team across the UK and you will play a key role managing this NIHR funded study at sites in England. This is an opportunity to get involved in an important, ground breaking trial for 12 months, opening new Sites and supporting study delivery at existing ones.

The post holder may additionally be responsible for contributing to the day-to-day management of other research projects, studies and trials at the Trust as required. The Project Manager must therefore be able to provide initial advice, guidance, and support for researchers so candidates must already be familiar with the regulatory environment surrounding research in the NHS.

The right candidate will be highly organised, self-motivated, a strong communicator, proactive and be able to work independently within a team environment.

Line management of other members of the team is required and national travel to support research sites will be necessary.

• Selecting, training, and opening Sites to deliver the ColoCap Trial across England.
• Undertaking in-person Site visits and monitoring study delivery at Sites.
• Managing other staff within the Research Management Team (e.g. Study Data Manager).
• Liaising regularly with Sites to ensure successful study delivery.
• Actively manage project specific activities, ensuring milestones and recruitment targets are met, delivering ColoCap on time and within budget.
• Addressing and recruitment issues and working with the team to overcome these.
• Deputising for the ColoCap Research Programme manager as required.
• To co-ordinate various management, steering group and project-specific team meetings to ensure appropriate progress against objectives is maintained.
• To act as a conduit for the project across the other relevant support departments including, but not limited to, sponsor, finance, funder, pharmacy, laboratory and clinical teams.
• To maintain research databases such as EDGE/CPMS records and assist with the development of research reports.
• To provide support for researchers with all aspects of sponsorship and governance applications and ongoing responsibilities in this regard (such as making amendments, reporting adverse events, identifying and documenting breaches)
• To assist with securing additional funding and investments through different grant schemes, for the service to become self-sustainable.

This post will be based with the ColoCap Study Management Team at York Hospital. This is a full time position (Monday - Friday) and whilst some remote working may be considered, the successful candidate would be required to be on Site regularly.
