Waste Management Department
Salary Grade 2 £25,583 - £26,824 per annum
Full Time, 37 hours per week
Bassetlaw District Council is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Administrative Assistant to join our Waste Management team. This is an excellent opportunity to support essential front-line services that make a real difference to our communities.
The Role
Reporting to the Admin Team Leader, you will provide high-quality administrative support to the Waste Management Department, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and to agreed timescales. You will be a key point of contact for customers, dealing with enquiries professionally and in a customer-first manner.
Your duties will include:
• Providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Waste Management team
• Operation of all Waste Management Services provided by the Waste Management Team
• Handling telephone enquiries and service requests using CRM systems, in line with council standards
• Processing orders, invoices and card payments using the Council’s financial systems
• Maintaining accurate manual and computerised records and producing reports as required
• Carrying out reception duties and coordinating communication between managers, supervisors and operational staff
• Supporting digital service requests through the Council’s ESB and Digital Depot systems
• Dealing politely and sensitively with enquiries and complaints from the public, councillors and officers
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services
About You
We are looking for someone who:
• Has at least 12 months’ experience in an office environment carrying out a range of administrative duties
• Has experience dealing with members of the public face-to-face and over the telephone
• Demonstrates good customer care, communication, literacy and numeracy skills
• Is confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other office applications
• Is organised, flexible, punctual and able to prioritise their workload in a busy environment
• Works well as part of a team and remains calm and professional under pressure
