JOB DESCRIPTION
At Switch Up, we provide individual, life-changing support to young people in communities affected by crime and violence. Through
sport, mentoring, alternative education and personal development, we help young people improve their mental and physical
wellbeing, build confidence and realise their full potential.
We work with some of the most disadvantaged and hard-to-reach young people, many of whom have struggled in mainstream education
due to exclusion, SEMH needs, SEN, trauma or complex life circumstances. Our Alternative Provision plays a vital role in
supporting young people to move “Over The Bridge” into positive outcomes in education, training or employment.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Switch Up as Head of Alternative Provision, a senior role responsible for leading our
education team, overseeing high-quality alternative education delivery and ensuring strong safeguarding, compliance and outcomes.

THE ROLE
As Head of Alternative Provision, you will work closely with the Operations Delivery Manager to lead and develop our education
provision across Nottingham and Mansfield. You will:
* Lead, support and manage a team of Education Tutors
* Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead
* Oversee quality, compliance and funded targets
* Hold your own caseload of young people
* Ensure education delivery is engaging, inclusive and outcome-focused
You will be a confident leader with strong education experience, able to balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, and
passionate about supporting young people who need a different approach to learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead and manage the education team, including recruitment, induction, supervision and appraisal
* Deliver and quality assure Alternative Provision education for young people aged pre- and post-16
* Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, GDPR and policy compliance at all times
* Coordinate education delivery, tutor allocation, lesson observations and learner progress
* Lead on qualifications delivery (including ASDAN and NOCN) and resource development
* Monitor attendance, engagement, outcomes and progression data
* Build positive relationships with schools, referrers, statutory partners and families
* Attend multi-agency meetings and represent Switch Up professionally
* Contribute to the development of new education projects and funded programmes
* Support mentoring delivery where required

ABOUT YOU
You will:
* Have experience leading or coordinating alternative education or AP provision
* Be confident managing staff performance and supporting professional development
* Have strong safeguarding knowledge and be willing to act as DSL
* Be organised, resilient and confident working with complex young people
* Be passionate about inclusive, trauma-informed education
* Have excellent communication, reporting and relationship-building skills
* Be comfortable working in a paperless, data-driven environment
