This 2nd Line Support Engineer role is ideal if you enjoy variety and ownership. You will work across complex client environments, delivering projects that improve how businesses operate while strengthening your own technical capability.

Based in Wakefield, you will support clients mainly across West Yorkshire. You will work closely with the owners of the business, meaning your ideas are heard and your work has impact.

This position gives you exposure to modern technologies, client decision-makers and projects you can genuinely take pride in.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead IT infrastructure projects, giving you end-to-end ownership and visible results.
• Deliver server deployments, network upgrades, and cloud migrations that strengthen your project portfolio.
• Configure Microsoft 365, Azure, and cloud solutions, building expertise in modern workplace technologies.
• Install and manage servers, switches, and firewalls, keeping your hands firmly on real-world systems.
• Provide on-site and remote support, allowing you to develop strong client-facing confidence.
• Carry out upgrades and troubleshooting at client sites, broadening your practical experience.
• Work directly with business owners to shape scope, timelines, and outcomes.
• Support technical scoping and pre-sales work, expanding your commercial understanding.
• Produce clear documentation and diagrams, creating structure and consistency for future growth.
• Act as the technical lead during delivery, becoming a trusted point of contact for clients.
• Support smooth handovers into ongoing support, ensuring quality doesn’t drop.
• Deliver client training sessions, strengthening long-term relationships.
• Assist with 2nd Line Service Desk work when required, keeping your skills well-rounded.

The Person

• Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
• Solid networking knowledge including LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, DHCP, and DNS.
• Hands-on experience with Ubiquiti firewalls.
• Confident with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Intune.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and Hyper-V.
• Comfortable with endpoint security and MFA solutions.
• Clear communicator with strong client-facing skills.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Please note, some evening and weekend work will be required so flexibility is a must.
• Driving license and own car
