About the Role:
This position provides on‑shift leadership and direction to all shop‑floor colleagues within the Process Department. You will be accountable for delivering key performance indicators across safety, food safety, quality, cost, and service, ensuring a high‑performing and compliant operation.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate a team of up to 20 colleagues during each shift.

Ensure full compliance with food safety, health & safety, and environmental standards.

Plan, drive, and implement continuous improvement activities across production lines.

Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

Coach, develop, and support team members, sharing best practices to enhance performance.

Achieve daily, weekly, and annual performance and compliance targets.

Manage labour, materials, equipment, and other resources efficiently.

Lead and support improvement projects, training initiatives, and capability-building activities.

Control web stock levels, budgetary considerations, and departmental cleaning schedules.

Reduce changeover times and ensure lines consistently operate within process capability.

Manage holiday scheduling and provide cover for fellow team leaders when required.

Make timely technical and people-related decisions, escalating issues appropriately.
Key Requirements:

Proven experience in a team leadership role within a production or manufacturing environment.

Strong technical understanding of value streams and key cost drivers.

Working knowledge of line performance, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Demonstrable continuous improvement and problem‑solving capabilities.

Ability to lead teams effectively and deliver results through others.
-
People-focused approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications in Food Safety, IOSH, or relevant technical disciplines (e.g., biscuit manufacturing).

Competent in SAP, Excel, and general computer-based systems.

Logical, analytical mindset with high attention to detail.

Experience operating within automated manufacturing environments.

The role
To provide leadership and guidance to all shop floor colleagues on shift in the process department. Responsible for delivering KPI’s in terms of safety, food safety, quality, cost and service.
Key accountabilities
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and environmental standards. • Plan and implement line improvement initiatives. • Communicate effectively with colleagues. • Develop team members and share good practices. • Achieve daily and annual compliance results. • Manage resources (labour, materials, equipment). • Lead improvement projects and training. • Control web stocks, budget, and cleaning schedules. • Reduce changeover times and ensure process capability. • Handle holiday bookings and provide cover for other leaders. • Make quick technical and HR decisions, escalating issues when necessary.
