This post will provide the intervention and support to deaf children and young people who are attending primary and secondary school.

You will provide Speech and Language Therapy at a highly specialist level, within the area of deafness, functioning in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to support in the holistic assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people known to the service. You will demonstrate clinical leadership in deafness and represent the local team/service area in appropriate meetings to support and develop quality services for deaf children and young people withinLutonin an integrated partnership model.

· Provide assessment, advice and therapy where appropriate to children and young people with hearing impairment with and without EHCPs across Luton
· Provide intervention and support tothose deaf children and young people who attend deaf specialist provisions in the mainstream schools and those who are supported by peripatetic Teachers of the Deaf either in their home environment or in their pre-school or school setting.
· To provide regular reports on activities and outcomes of interventions to LBC
· To identify, assess and diagnose communication impairments and select appropriate therapy for effective treatment.
· To provide written reports and contribute to the EHCP assessment process as required.
· Contributing to annual reviews/case conferences and meetings as required
· Make independent decisions about caseload management.
· Gain extensive clinical experience and expertise to improve and further develop specialist skills through training, support and study
· Provide second opinions to less experienced colleagues
· Be responsible for providing ongoing training and advice to the wider Speech and Language Therapy team, school teaching assistants/communicators SENCOs and teachers and volunteers
· Devise and deliver training to parents as appropriate.
· Deliver training within the school environment as required.
· Contribute to the support of newly and recently graduated SLT Staff
· Measure the impact of the work within the HIP service and provide reporting data as required.
· Take responsibility for service wide developments as appropriate.
