A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


We are looking to appoint a full time(1.0WTE) ST6-8 or equivalent to work in the Adolescent medical team, named Treatment and Rehabilitation of Adolescents with Complex Conditions Service (TRACCS) within UCLH’s Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine Division. This post is from March 2026 for 6 months.

Our Adolescent Service is recognised as a leading example at a national level and the inpatient unit is the largest in Europe. As part of the team you would work with the four consultants, registrar and SHO to see patients in clinics, day care and the adolescent ward. Outpatients often suffer from fatigue, pain, conditions such as ME/CFS/post COVID condition/ FND, medically unexplained conditions and both physical and emotional difficulties. The adolescent unit has a mix of patients under different teams as well as the adolescent team who looks after young people with complex conditions as above for example affecting both physical and emotional health. There are many opportunities for working with multidisciplinary team colleagues and gaining subspeciality experience in for example gastro/rheumatology/ /gynaecology.

The successful candidate will form an integral member of the Adolescent medicine and TRACCS (Treatment and rehabilitation of complex conditions team). They will take a senior role within the team and be responsible for helping look after inpatients, day care patients and outpatients with a range of diagnoses including CFS/ME, medically unexplained symptoms, FND and other complex conditions.  The post holder will support the junior medical team and MDT.  The post holder will have responsibility for ongoing care of chronic cases and general overview of activity on a busy adolescent ward. It is expected that the applicant will gain a wide exposure to adolescent medicine and other conditions as well as safeguarding and complexities in adolescent care.

The post holder will contribute to the teaching of medical students and junior doctors.  He/she will participate in the weekly postgraduate meetings of the paediatric department as well as audit, governance and training meetings.  He/she will contribute to the teaching programme for the paediatric SHOs. The post holder will contribute regularly to undergraduate teaching and will be asked to tutor small groups of students.

The postholder will be a key member of the MDT planning and guiding individualised care for each CYP   Communicate complex information in skilled and sensitive manner with a specialist caseload of young people which may be highly emotive.
