Description
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Health Officer (Band 3) to join our team and contribute to the protection and enhancement of public health and the environment. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting inspections, and implementing public health initiatives. Your work will involve assessing environmental factors that can affect health, inspecting establishments such as restaurants, housing, and public facilities, and collaborating with stakeholders to promote sustainable practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental health issues and legislation, as well as practical experience in enforcement and compliance. Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, housing, and public facilities to ensure compliance with health regulations.
Investigate complaints related to environmental health issues, including waste management, safety hazards, and sanitation problems.
Prepare and maintain accurate records of inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions taken.
Educate the public and businesses on health regulations, environmental sustainability practices, and safe hygiene methods.
Collaborate with other government agencies, stakeholders, and community organizations to promote public health initiatives.
Review and approve permits related to food establishments and septic systems, ensuring compliance with standards.
Respond to emergencies and health crises, providing expert advice and support to mitigate risks.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health, or a related field.
Relevant experience in environmental health inspections or public health enforcement roles.
Strong knowledge of local and national health regulations and standards.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
Analytical skills to assess risks and make informed decisions based on inspection findings.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Certification as an Environmental Health Officer or a related credential is preferred.

End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £29.68
Location: Westminster, South West London
