Summary
We are recruiting a Head of Fire Safety & Compliance to lead fire safety strategy and compliance across a large residential housing portfolio.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for ensuring buildings meet all fire safety and regulatory requirements. You will lead specialist teams, manage multi-million-pound budgets, oversee contractors, and provide assurance to senior leadership that residents' homes are safe and compliant.
- Act as the Responsible Person for fire safety across the organisation
- Lead and manage a specialist fire safety and compliance team
- Ensure compliance with all relevant fire safety legislation, including RRFSO 2005
- Develop, implement, and review fire safety policies and procedures
- Manage annual budgets of £3m-£12m, ensuring value for money
- Oversee procurement, contract performance, and contractor management
- Provide regular compliance and risk reports to senior leadership and board
- Lead implementation of new legislation and regulatory change
- Manage responses to serious incidents, escalations, and emergencies
- Work closely with internal teams on new developments and asset strategy
- Represent the organisation with regulators and industry bodies
- Proven experience in a senior fire safety or compliance leadership role
- Strong background in residential housing, social housing, or regulated environments
- Experienced in managing large budgets and complex contracts
- Confident operating at executive and board level
- Strong people leader with excellent stakeholder management skills
- In-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation and regulatory requirements
- Recognised professional qualification in fire safety or health & safety
- (e.g. NEBOSH, FPA, FIA or equivalent)
- Extensive knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Experience leading change in response to new legislation
- Strong contract management experience (JCT / NEC or similar)
