The post involves prolonged work in the PC environment including VDUs, keyboards and mice as part of the daily routine. There will be a regular requirement for prolonged concentration on complex activities (e.g. problem identification and resolution, system configuration), and advanced physical skills in terms of accuracy Frequent requirement to concentrate for long periods when analysing data, system configurations, developing new control strategies, fault findings bugs in computer systems and for diagnosing complex problems with regular interruptions to deal with end user issuers. Work is frequently required in dusty, dirty environments when installing or maintaining embedded hardware. Whilst the post is nominally based at Saint James's University Hospital, the post holder will be expected to travel to, and undertake work at any unit within the Trust. Work may also be required outside normal office hours including evenings and weekends (normally by prior arrangement).
