Crynodeb
The Occupational Therapy and Sensory Impairment Specialist Assessment Team are based in Barry and carry out assessments in people’s homes across the Vale of Glamorgan. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Social Care Officers and a Rehabilitation Officer for the Visually Impaired. The function of the team is to look at suitable equipment and adaptations to enable a person to remain living safely and independently in their home. We work closely with other teams within Social Services to help with planning of people’s care when required.

Pay Details: Grade 8. SCP 26-30 £37,280-£40,777 Pro Rata £19.32 - £21.14 Per Hour
Hours of Work: 37
Working Pattern: Monday-Friday
Main Place of Work: Canolfan Ty Jenner
The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of people who need assessment in their homes to maintain their safety and increase independence, This will be met through the provision of suitable equipment and adaptations and sourcing the appropriate funding for these
About you
You will need:
Paid or voluntary work experience
successful fieldwork placement if being appointed to novice year post
a proven ability to liaise with other agencies and disciplines
an ability to recognise and accept a professional boundaries and to seek guidance where necessary
Knowledge of and commitment to the concept of the social model of disability
a baseline understanding of the legislative framework which allows the social services department to provide services.
knowledge and understanding of the effects of illness and disability
An ability to work under pressure
an ability to work independently and flexibly
an ability to work as part of the team
good communication both written and oral
computer literacy or a willingness to develop the computer skills necessary to complete tasks required in the workplace
A good general education
Diploma or degree in occupational therapy
Current registration with HCPC
willingness to accept supervision
