We provide a wide range of services supporting Polish and other Eastern European migrants living in the UK, particularly those who arrived following the EU enlargement in 2004. Our work focuses on community engagement, access to information, volunteering and social inclusion.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a motivated and creative Communication and Development Officer to join our small team. The role involves supporting the delivery and promotion of SPS services and projects, with a focus on communications, media activity, events and volunteer coordination. This is an opportunity to make a positive difference to local communities while developing professional skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for:
• Assisting with the publication of the community newspaper East Midlands po Polsku (EMpP)
• Managing and updating social media content, including the EMpP Facebook profile and the www.empp.co.uk website
• Preparing promotional, information and communication materials
• Liaising with EMpP advertisers and carrying out related administrative work
• Supporting the organisation and promotion of workshops, family events and community activities
• Recruiting, supporting and coordinating volunteers
• Assisting with project monitoring, data collection and reporting
• Carrying out general administrative and communication tasks as required
Essential Skills and Experience
• Fluency in Polish and English (spoken and written)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence in using IT, including Microsoft Office, WordPress, graphic design software and social media platforms
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to equality, diversity and community cohesion
Desirable Skills and Experience
• Knowledge or experience of media or communications work
• Experience of working with volunteers
• Knowledge of community development and event organisation
