JOB TITLE: EMPLOYMENT SOLICITOR
SALARY: Competitive Salary
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday

Our client seeks an Employment Solicitor (1 to 5 years PQE). You’ll be hard-working, outgoing, and a strong team player, ideally with experience in a city or medium- to large-sized law practice. A solid grounding in employment law is essential.

Our client has two opportunities within this department: one for candidates with around 1 year of PQE, offering a salary up to £50,000, and a second for those with 2 to 5 years of PQE, with a salary range of £60,000 to £65,000. Responsibilities for both positions are similar, with scope and salary reflective of experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide effective support services to the firm. Duties will include:

• Advising on day-to-day HR and employment law issues
• Drafting employment contracts, policies, and staff handbooks
• Handling and advising Settlement Agreements, Redundancy Matters, and Employment Tribunal claims
• Supporting corporate transactions with employment law input (TUPE, due diligence, etc.)
• Assisting with business development, client training sessions, and marketing initiatives
• Exposure to both claimant and respondent employment work

KEY SKILLS:

• Sound legal knowledge, drafting and advisory skills
• Experience of undertaking advocacy in court/chambers/tribunal setting
• Experience of presenting to an audience
• Commercial, practical and financial awareness
• Confidence and ability to communicate at senior levels
• Excellent interpersonal and marketing skills with the ability to develop contacts for the team and the firm
• Problem solving
• Strong ambition for career development
• Team player able to fit into a friendly, busy team
• Negotiation skills
• Organisational ability
• Ability to be responsible for own caseload (under supervision where relevant)
