Wigan is a town with a proud heritage and an even prouder commitment to its young people. In this role, you will be a key part of a community that values hard work and ambition. Whether you are sparking a new interest in a Year 8 class or fine-tuning the exam techniques of Year 11 students as they approach their GCSEs, you will create a learning environment where every student feels supported to achieve their personal best.

The Impact You Will Make
  • Subject Leadership: Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4 that bring your specialism to life.

  • Exam Excellence: Guide students through GCSE specifications with a focus on building both knowledge and confidence.

  • Positive Climate: Establish strong classroom routines based on mutual respect and high expectations for behavior.

  • Targeted Progress: Use assessment data to identify learning gaps and provide the interventions necessary to help students thrive.

  • Holistic Support: Support the emotional and social development of students, ensuring they are ready to learn every day.

  • Wigan Community: Build lasting professional relationships with colleagues and parents within the local Wigan borough.

What You Bring to the Classroom
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.

  • Proven experience teaching your subject specialism (English, Maths, Science, Humanities, etc.) in a UK secondary school.

  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to hit the ground running in a new setting.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage teenagers from diverse backgrounds.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, with a CV covering the last 10 years of employment history.
