Summary

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance:
• Stay informed about FCA rules and regulations, ensuring timely updates and compliance across the organization.
• Advise senior management on regulatory developments and their impact on business operations.
• Ensure the firm continues to meet FCA threshold conditions (COND) and submit necessary notifications (e.g., Retail Mediation Activities Return).
• Produce an annual compliance report for senior management and maintain an open and cooperative relationship with the FCA.
Senior Managers & Certified Persons:
• Ensure proper allocation of Prescribed Responsibilities to Senior Managers.
• Conduct and review FIT assessments for Senior Managers and Certified Persons annually.
• Report disciplinary actions related to Conduct Rule breaches to the FCA.
Compliance Monitoring:
• Implement a risk-based compliance monitoring approach.
• Ensure accurate recording of findings from client file reviews and share key insights with senior management.
Systems and Controls:
• Monitor delegated activities, ensuring tasks are effectively and appropriately executed.
• Regularly review the firm’s remuneration policy against FCA requirements.
Selling Practices and Complaints Handling:
• Ensure staff are aware of FCA requirements on selling practices and complaints handling.
• Oversee client file reviews to ensure regulatory compliance and address complaints per FCA standards.
Financial Promotion and PII:
• Approve financial promotions and review them annually for compliance.
• Maintain relevant records and ensure the firm has appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII).
Training and Competence:
• Oversee the recruitment and training of new staff, ensuring Conduct Rules training is completed.
• Ensure ongoing supervision and competency sign-offs under the Certification Regime.
Appointed Representatives:
• Monitor the firm’s appointed representatives to ensure full regulatory compliance.

Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
• Detailed understanding of FCA regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong investigative and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
• High standards of professionalism, integrity, and trustworthiness.
• At least 2 years of experience in the mortgage industry i.e mortgage adviser or mortgage compliance role.
Desirable:
Ability to manage workloads independently and collaboratively.
• Administrative experience in a compliance-focused role.
• Working knowledge of FCA reporting tools and processes.
