The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated A Level Computer Science Teacher for a full-time position starting ASAP. You will be responsible for delivering a dynamic curriculum to Key Stage 5 students, preparing them for the rigors of university and the global tech industry.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

  • Curriculum Mastery: Deep, demonstrable knowledge of the current A-Level Computer Science curriculum and examination board specifications.
  • Advanced Programming: Proficiency in key languages such as Python and Java (or C#) for high-level teaching.
  • Computational Thinking: Expert ability to teach and foster strong algorithmic problem-solving and computational thinking skills.
  • Data Analysis: Skill in utilising student performance data to inform targeted planning and intervention strategies.
  • Differentiated Pedagogy: Proven ability to adapt lessons to effectively challenge high-achievers and support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assessment Design: Competence in designing and grading rigorous examinations, coursework, and practical programming assessments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver highly effective A-Level Computer Science lessons across all components of the course.
  • Accurately assess, monitor, record, and report on student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Actively contribute to the ongoing development and resourcing of the departmental curriculum.
  • Enforce and maintain high expectations for student conduct and academic performance in line with college policy.
  • Participate fully in departmental meetings, training sessions, and whole-college Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Implement targeted intervention strategies to ensure all students achieve their maximum potential.
  • Foster a safe, stimulating, and positive learning atmosphere in the classroom and IT labs.
  • Act as a tutor, offering pastoral support and guidance to a designated group of students.
  • Proactively engage with parents/carers regarding student progress and well-being.
  • Uphold the college's values and actively contribute to the wider life of the school community through enrichment activities.
