Job title: Female Personal Assistant (PA)
Reporting to: The Employer
Location: Claregate, Wolverhampton WV6
Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is 22 years old, autistic and lives in Wolverhampton. She has low language and cognitive skills but is physically fit and generally content.
Our client is looking for a Personal Assistant who lives locally and has experience with managing and organising children and is aware of the challenges that autistic people can face.
Main duties:
Social duties
- Encourage the client to socialise with family and friends
- Assist with managing type 1 diabetes
- Attend medical appointments with the family
- Go shopping and travel on buses, trains and trams
- Attend social events such as the cinema
- Accompany our client to the swimming baths
Personal care: Support with bathing/showering, teeth cleaning, dressing.
Domestic duties: Support with household tasks such as preparing meals for the client. Helping the client to use the dishwasher and washing machine with the client.
These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Specific requirements: The successful applicant will understand autism and preferably previous care and support experience.
Other: Due to the nature of this role including personal care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.
Hours of work: 28 hours per week – Tuesday to Friday 08:30am – 15:30pm each day
Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
Previous experience of working with individuals with autism
Confidentiality
Good at building relationships
Preferred:
Good communicator
A good listener
Ability to support people with complex care needs.
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
