Reed are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK)!
FBC UK bake the UK's most incredible biscuits (we might be slightly biased, but we will leave that for you to judge). FBC UK was a match made in heaven, with two of the top UK biscuits manufacturers (Burton's Biscuits and Fox's Biscuits) coming together to create one unique, integrated company.
FBC UK are home to famous iconic brands, including Maryland, Fox's, Jammie Dodger & Rocky, to name just a few, as well as a proud manufacturing partner to some of the biggest UK retailers and household names.
The key ingredient to FBC UK’s success is people, and the passion they have for their brands. You could be the jammy to our dodger, party ring to our Fox’s or the choc-chip to our Maryland?! We need people with innovative ideas, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the commitment to drive FBC UK to success.
FBC UK are currently the second biscuit manufacturer in the UK market with a strong ambition of becoming UK Market Leader.
About the role:
This position forms a crucial part of the initial stage of biscuit production. It is a hands‑on, fast‑paced, and highly team‑orientated environment where clear communication is essential. The role requires strong common sense, the ability to follow processes accurately, and the confidence to work independently when needed.
Each shift begins with reviewing the rota sheet, which outlines your assigned line or plant for the day. You will then check the recipe sheet to ensure the mixing machinery is set correctly, including ingredient weights, mix quantities, and operational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Mixer:

  • Work from recipe sheets to set up and operate the mixer correctly.
  • Ensure ingredients are added in the correct order and quantity as specified.
  • Conduct quality checks on the mixture, including consistency, colour, and texture.
  • Manage “Add Ons” — additional chemical ingredients (e.g., soda, salt) that must be measured and added manually.
  • Collaborate with the Chemical Maker, who prepares the chemical blend separately and delivers it to the mixer.

Chemical Maker:
  • Prepare chemical ingredient blends by following precise instructions.
  • Use manual tools such as shovels and weighing equipment to combine ingredients accurately.
  • Transport completed chemical mixes to the Mixer station.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and handling guidelines.

Servicer:
  • Collect and deliver bulk ingredients from the warehouse to the mixing and storage areas.
  • Operate pallet trucks and, where required, forklift trucks (FLT) — or work alongside an FLT driver.
  • Perform regular stock checks to ensure all ingredients are available as needed.
  • Carry out physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving materials.

Essential Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate recipe following and quality control.
  • Good numeracy and literacy to interpret recipe sheets, measure ingredients, and complete documentation.
  • Physical fitness, as the role involves lifting, shovelling, and manual handling.
  • Teamwork and communication to work effectively with mixers, chemical makers, and warehouse teams.
  • Time management to ensure ingredients and mixes are prepared according to production schedules.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience operating mixing machinery or working with recipe‑driven production processes.
  • Familiarity with manual chemical handling or mixing, including safe use of shovels and weighing tools.
  • Background in warehouse operations, including stock management and FLT/pallet truck use.
  • Understanding of quality control processes, ideally within food manufacturing or chemical production.
