Role: Part-time Residential Childcare Support Worker
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £26,246 per annum, pro rata (actual based on contracted hours is £11,350 p/a), plus overtime
Hours: 16 + hours per week, plus overtime. Two shifts per week, shift times usually start at 15:00 or 17:00 and finish at 23:00, Monday to Friday, and weekend shifts on the roster are 12:00 to 22:00. Mornings are not required.
Additional paid hours are required for training and overtime on occasion, therefore flexibility to work in excess of the contracted 16 hours per week is required.
Roster: Currently a 3-week rolling roster is in place to include weekends and Bank holidays as normal working days.
This position is unsuitable as a second job due to rostering.

About the Role

As a Part-time Residential Childcare Worker, you will perform a vital role in our children's lives, working as part of a team, and being a responsible, trusted ‘parent figure’ for looked-after children.
Your responsibilities include:
• Building strong, positive relationships with children who have experienced traumatic and difficult backgrounds
• Supporting their educational and emotional development, helping them to heal and thrive
• Plan and co-ordinate engaging, fun activities, encouraging the children’s leisure interests
• Ensure a structured, safe, comfortable home environment
• Follow regulatory processes using IT, good administration and record keeping

About you

To succeed as a Part-time Residential Childcare Support Worker, we’re looking for candidates who are:
• Dedicated to child safeguarding
• Empathetic and effective communicators, able to form trusted, meaningful relationships with children
• Passionate about making a positive difference in children’s welfare
• Resilient and patient, capable of handling challenging behaviours
• Proactive and creative in activity planning
• Capable of practical ‘life skills’ including cooking, cleaning and good home management
• Detail-oriented and competent users of IT, to ensure that every child’s needs are met and documented in line with regulatory expectations and standards

Essential must haves
A valid UK driving licence and a willingness to travel as part of the role, including areas of Bournemouth and Head Office in Ringwood.
Willingness to pursue relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People & Families Practitioner.
