The unit is looking for a proactive and dynamic Band 6 -sister/charge nurse who is willing to rise to the challenge, one who possesses the combined qualities of enthusiasm, decisiveness, and competence and the ability to lead a diverse team of nurses into achieving the goals set by the unit and in upholding the highest standards of patient-centred care as principled by the NMC.

Experienced in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy administration and has the expertise in looking after Haemato-oncology patients and patients with sickle cell disease.

To act as deputy to the Clinical Nurse Manager as required.

To lead a team of nurses and healthcare assistants, supporting the Ward Manager in providing a unified approach to high standards of patient care.

To create an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skills and autonomy.

The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patient and their family/visitors/carers

To work within both the inpatients area in the Haematology Unit – Drake Ward and supporting the Day care patients within Haematology Day Care/ Assessment Room if needed The post holder will act as a resource and have specialist interest in the teaching and development of the nursing staff whist ensuring mandatory and in house training is maintained.
