Our Maintenance Assistant role:
We’re looking for a dependable and energetic Maintenance Assistant to support our team with general upkeep, machine inspections, and inventory management. You’ll have a blend of responsibilities, related to both vehicle operations and equipment maintenance, and will be on hand to ensure that our hotel is safe, compliant, and welcoming for team and guests.
As our Maintenance Assistant, you’ll be:
∙ Conducting routine inspections, regularly reviewing and inspecting equipment, machinery and systems, to ensure they remain in good working order.
∙ Performing minor repairs and adjustments and troubleshooting any faulty equipment or machinery.
∙ Maintaining cleanliness and order in work areas, ensuring proper storage of tools and equipment and assisting with general upkeep.
∙ Monitoring and reporting on the condition of maintenance supplies and equipment and ordering new items as needed.
∙ Assisting in the upkeep of buildings and surrounding areas (e.g., painting, basic plumbing or carpentry tasks) and providing general facility maintenance.
∙ Ensuring that all safety standards are followed and reporting any hazards or safety concerns.
∙ Assisting with preventative, planned and reactive maintenance needs.
∙ Lending a helping hand with room set-ups for events.
∙ Ensuring that any requests in the maintenance log are completed in a timely manner.
∙ Supporting with outdoor garden work as required.
Please note, this is a full-time role working 40 hours per week.
The skills you’ll be sharing with us:
∙ Experience in a similar industry (hospitality preferable)
∙ Knowledge of current health and safety legislation for both driving and maintenance tasks
∙ Ability to diagnose and repair day-to-day mechanical/practical problems and make any necessary repairs correctly and safely
∙ A willingness to follow instructions, lead by example, and work well within a team
∙ Excellent skills in property maintenance and renovation such as re-decoration, electrical, basic plumbing and tiling
∙ Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office systems
∙ Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional experience you’ll need:
∙ Previous experience of island living, or equivalent (desirable).
∙ A valid driving licence, and relevant driving experience.
∙ Hobbies or interests in the following areas: the outdoors, outdoor instructing, writing, natural history, geology, marine science, animal science, photography, and documentary filmmaking, or equivalent (desirable).
