Summary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis role encompasses the management of Endocrine patients as part of a four-consultant team, which includes overseeing junior doctors, handling ward consults, supervising day-cases, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and specialist clinics, in addition to providing in-patient care for non-surgical oncology patients. You will actively contribute to clinical governance by maintaining protocols, undertaking clinical audits, and developing evidence-based guidelines. The position also involves advancing the team's research by contributing to current projects and creating new opportunities. A significant component of the role is dedicated to education, requiring you to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students and train junior doctors and other team members. Finally, you will be expected to maintain a high standard of continuing professional development in line with the recommendations of the Royal College of Physicians. Continuing Professional Development (CPD)The Trust supports the requirements for CPD as laid down by the GMC and royal colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. Job PlanningThe job plan outlines the requirements of the post and may be altered by joint agreement with the Divisional Clinical Director and Service Manager and in response to service needs. Job Plans are prospectively agreed subject to an annual individual job plan review (May September). It is expected that the initial Job Plan discussion will take place within the first six months of employment at the Trust and then be aligned to the Trusts annual Job Planning review cycle. The annual review will examine all aspects of the job plan (including any educational and supervision components) and will also include an assessment of professional development with defined goals for the future. Job PlanThe timetable below is indicative and will be confirmed on commencement in post. It is the requirement of the Trust that all new consultant colleagues must have 0.25 SPAs within their job plan to support Trust appraisal and supervision requirements. This can either be as appraiser or a supervisor for medical staff or Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP).
