GCIL. AD/LD/1.25 Personal Assistant for A
Meet A: a fun-loving young woman who’s full of life and is looking for a PA to help her live life to the fullest. A requires support with her personal care needs, such as washing and dressing on a regular basis to help her get ready for the day. After this is done, she might then be keen to get out and about for a walk along the streets, or if the weather isn’t good enough, a simple evening in playing games and socialising. A is a humorous person who loves to sing and play guitar, so it would be great if you share these interests too!
A communicates using Makaton, and her family are happy to provide training on this for the right candidate. The most important thing is that you’re willing to take the time to build a proper relationship with A, and that you’re keen to stay on longer term to help provide the stability and routine that she needs. A would like to work with someone who is outgoing and has a chatty, upbeat personality. A is a person with down syndrome, so some experience of working with people who exhibit challenging behaviours is also needed as occasionally you may need to keep A calm in stressful situations.
For this role, you will be required to work 10 hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays 4.00PM – 9.00PM. The hourly rate for this position is £13.60, and the job takes place in Carntyne (G32).
If you think you would be a great match for A, please apply by sending your CV to par@gcil.org.uk with the reference “AD/LD/1.25” in the subject line and body of your email. If you have any questions, please contact GCIL on 0141 550 4455. We look forward to hearing from you!
