GCIL.AR/LB/1.25 Personal Assistant (PA)
Location: South side area of Glasgow G44
Hours: 10 hours per week (including some weekends every 2nd Saturday 1:30pm-4:30pm flexible)
Pay Rate: £13.60 per hour
Start Date: [TBC]
About the Role
We are looking for a gentle, patient and warm-hearted Personal Assistant to support Adam, a loving and sensitive young boy with Down syndrome and autism. Adam communicates in both spoken English and British Sign Language (BSL), and because both of his parents are Deaf, experience in BSL is essential to ensure communication feels natural, respectful and comfortable for everyone. Adam thrives when the people around him take their time, follow his pace and show genuine kindness, and it is very important to both him and his parents that he feels safe, understood and listened to.
About Adam
Adam is a friendly, sensitive boy who enjoys gentle, meaningful connection. He loves swimming and spending time outdoors, so a PA who also enjoys these activities will be a great match. He feels most secure around people who are patient, caring and calm, and who value his feelings and communication style. Adam follows a halal diet, so cultural awareness is appreciated.
Key Responsibilities
Communicating with Adam and his parents using British Sign Language (BSL)
Supporting Adam with play, gentle activities and outdoor time
Accompanying Adam to swimming and other outings

Warm, patient, caring and empathetic nature
Reliable and consistent, with good communication skills
Comfortable supporting a child with Down syndrome and autism
