Join us at Stockport Council MJ Local Authority of the Year 2025

Your Role

Lead the development and integration of Family Hub services across a designated neighbourhood, with a strong focus on prevention and early intervention to ensure families receive timely support and improved outcomes. As part of the Stockport Family leadership team, you’ll provide strategic and operational leadership to health visiting, early years, parenting, delivering grant funded programmes and evaluating impact. You’ll champion evidence-based practice, manage risks and caseloads, ensure statutory compliance and safeguarding, and build strong multi-agency partnerships. You’ll use performance insight to drive improvement, reduce inequalities and achieve better outcomes for children, young people and families. This is a unique opportunity to lead and manage services across both Stockport Council and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, reflecting the maturity and ambition of our integrated working arrangements.

About You

You’re a values-driven leader who keeps the families of Stockport at the heart of decisions, succeeds as a team, drives ambition and shows respect. You bring proven success managing integrated children and young people’s services, engaging vulnerable families, leading delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, and building effective partnerships. You motivate multi-disciplinary teams, analyse practice and performance data, manage risk, and deliver grant funded programmes with success. You hold a relevant professional qualification (degree or equivalent) with evidence of CPD; a recognised leadership and management qualification is desirable.

About Us

Join an innovative council committed to prevention and early intervention, laying the foundations for Stockport’s overarching Live Well ambitions. As part of Stockport Family, you’ll work within an integrated, neighbourhood-based model that puts collaboration and restorative practice at the heart of everything we do. Our Family Hubs are central to giving children and young people the very best start in life - bringing together services and partners to support families and improve outcomes. We value creativity, inclusivity, and continuous improvement, offering flexible working, professional development, and the chance to shape services that make a real difference in our communities.

At Stockport Council we are one ambitious team on a mission to create opportunities for everyone who lives, works and spends time in the borough. Working at Stockport Council means contributing to one of the most thriving towns in the North. We’re keen to recruit people with the right values and behaviours that can help us ensure our workplace values are at the heart of everything we do.
