We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Nurse Specialist injector to join our friendly, forward thinking Ophthalmology team at Ipswich Hospital ESNEFT.
We promote a team approach ethos towards service improvements with all staff included in supporting new developments.
You will be required to promote the highest possible standards of care based on professionally determined standards and accept accountability for the patient as an individual, providing autonomy.

· To manage and co-ordinate the patients journey through the vitreo retinal care pathway.
· Working side by side with consultants/doctors in all retinal clinics both supervised and unsupervised.
· Responsible and autonomous in decision-making in clinical practice following consultant guidelines.
· Responsible for making follow up appointments, adding patients to waiting lists and discharging within consultant framework and according to protocol.
· Responsible for producing patient information, patient assessment and telephone assessment documents ensuring a high quality of care delivery and assessment of care needs.
· Set and maintain protocols/guidelines for local and general anaesthetics, day- case/in-patient episodes, and routine and telephone patient assessments.
· Act as counsellor to patients immediately after their medical consultation in the outpatient department, ensuring that patients are informed of their operative procedure. Assess the medical and social needs to ensure their planned method of admission is appropriate.
· To be a source of information and patient education over the full range of ophthalmic conditions.
· To collect and collate data for medical audit purposes.
· To keep updated with all clinical developments in the speciality area.
