Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join us in the Hospital Therapy service at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will involve working as part of the Critical Care/ surgery therapy team, providing a 7-day service and bank holiday cover on a voluntary basis. The team is multidisciplinary and consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language therapists Dietitians and Integrated Therapy Assistants.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic AHP team that provides rehabilitation to critically ill patients. You will take part in delivering a quality Occupational Therapy Service in balance with working closely with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team.
Clinically, you will be required to support the provision of occupational therapy input to the 16-bedded intensive care unit and to patients stepped down to the general wards, with further opportunity to develop input to follow-up services. The team also provides support to the occupational therapy team on the general surgery wards and repatriation of patients post lower limb amputation.
We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The post holder is an autonomous practitioner, responsible for provision of highly specialised assessment, treatment, intervention and discharge planning of patients referred to the service.
Has responsibility for managing a caseload of patients with a variety of complex symptoms following critical illness.
Carry out assessment and prescription of equipment and adaptations.
Assist the Clinical Lead Therapist in the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating of the Critical Care Therapy Service provided.
