In 2021 Ashford and St Peters have been through a restructure moving from four divisions to six. The Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) division was formed in January 2021 and we rapidly expanded our EM Consultant workforce in 2022 and again in 2025. It is a really exciting time to join us. Our aim is to provide excellence in clinical care and strive continuously for service development. ED is divided into 6 sections: Ambulatory Majors Trolleys / Low dependency Majors / High dependency RAT Resuscitation ED Chairs The Urgent and Emergency Division also covers Clinical Assessment Unit (CAU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and oversees our working relationship with the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and the Psychiatric Liaison team. The Emergency Department at St Peters is the largest and busiest department in Surrey operating a 24 hour service and seeing over 110,000 patients a year. We are looking for someone to join an engaged, high energy team and add their own unique value to the already diverse team. Up to 80% of the post is clinical reflecting our offer to higher trainees. You will spend time working amongst your middle grade colleagues, under the oversight of the EM Consultant Team and supporting the Foundation Year Two trainees, GPST, ST 1-3 trainees and Clinical Fellows. Senior Clinical Fellows are offered weekly protected department teaching and benefit from education supervision from an EM consultant. The successful candidate will ideally already have the skills and experience to take charge of the Emergency Department out of hours, with support from an on-call Consultant. As a minimum you will have be in a position to develop these skills within 3 months of employment with the Trust. You must have MRCEM or equivalent NHS experience. Informal visits to our Emergency Department are welcome so you can come and meet us and the way we deliver clinical care.
