Summary
The post holder will take part in regular ward rounds and provide ongoing clinical care to inpatients in General Internal Medicine. Duties include the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of acute medical conditions. The post holder will also support junior medical staff through supervision, training, and mentorship, and act as a point of contact for clinical queries from nursing and allied health professionals. They will maintain accurate and timely documentation and ensure effective communication with General Practitioners and other services involved in patient care. Engagement in regular audits, quality improvement projects, and adherence to Trust policies and national clinical guidelines is expected. There is a strong emphasis on continued professional development, with support available to meet competencies as outlined in the GIM curriculum. The doctor is also expected to participate in internal cover arrangements during colleagues' absence, with flexibility around working hours when needed. Active involvement in departmental meetings, staff forums, and Trust initiatives to enhance care delivery and meet strategic goals is encouraged.
