We are looking to recruit a Band 3 Dialysis Assistant to assist with supporting the delivery of dialysis patient training and support for patients undertaking home haemodialysis throughout Kent. Patient & carer training is undertaken mainly at the K& C site, but there may also be opportunity to travel to the other satellite units for patient follow up/ training.
The home haemodialysis department is part of the Kidney Care Centre under the management of East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust. You will be part of a small team providing care to our dialysis patients. Your enthusiasm would be welcomed and a passion for teaching others will further assist our team deliver the high standard of care we are proud to uphold.

The home haemodialysis service is located within the home therapies department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital . This post is for 37.5 hours a week.
The working hours/pattern are prominently 08:00-16:00 / 07:30-15:30 or 08:00-18:00 Monday to Friday depending on service needs this may include weekends/ bank holidays
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, have a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive team member. Within this role you will be looking after patients who have a chronic condition who attend haemodialysis treatment three times a week.
We will provide the in-house training you require to safely carry out your role in dialysis which includes specific dialysis training and further development opportunities within your role. You will have a Band 5 and Band 4 as a mentor while you are training to the unit and support your learning.
The main duties of this role include providing haemodialysis care to renal in and out-patients on a daily basis including fluid management, recording observations, daily weights , medication, pressure sore prevention, vascular access care and diabetes management.
