The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) is seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director and up to two Associate Directors to join the CTSI Board, as well as two Non-Executive Directors, one of which will act as a consumer champion, to join the Approved Code Scheme Board (ACSB).

Chartered Trading Standards Institute Board - CTSI is an ambitious professional body with a proud 144-year history of protecting consumers. Driven by our members’ views and a strong sense of purpose, we extend our influence and impact through a wide range of commercial services. These include training and professional development for regulatory professionals and businesses, products and services for local authorities and national events that bring together regulators, businesses, and consumer advocates to share best practice and shape policy.
To complement the experience and skills on our Board, we are particularly seeking candidates with strong finance or commercial/business expertise to support our strategic growth. However, we welcome applications from anyone interested in these roles.

Approved Code Scheme Board - Make a real difference to the customer experience of millions of consumers as an independent member of the ACSB which meets quarterly. These strategic leadership roles operate at a national level and are at the forefront of facilitated self-regulation. The ACSB is a Community Interest Company, established in 2013 by CTSI, to assess applications for the approval of consumer codes of practice. The Board is completely independent of government, industry, consumer groups, and CTSI itself, ensuring impartial and objective decisions on the suitability of consumer codes.

As a Board member, you will safeguard the independence of the Board, make clear and objective decisions in the public interest, and discharge fiduciary responsibilities for the governance of the Community Interest Company. We are seeking candidates with a broad range of experience and skills, which may include communications and campaigns, digital and AI innovation, and knowledge of business and regulatory landscapes.

Our Board positions are not remunerated but reasonable expenses will be paid. For further details and to download candidate information packs please visit the CTSI website "Job Vacancies at CTSI"

Closing date for receipt of applications is 19 January 2026 noon
