Summary

Non-Executive Directors (two vacancies)

Blackpool Waste Services Limited

Are you passionate about making a difference and supporting local enterprise?

We are seeking to appoint two experienced and motivated Non-Executive Directors (NED) to join the Board of Blackpool Waste Services Limited (Enveco), a company wholly owned by Blackpool Council, which aims to provide high-quality waste environmental services to the community.

The Opportunity

As a NED you will provide independent oversight, strategic input and constructive challenge to the Senior Management Team, whilst supporting the financial, environmental, economic and social objectives of the Council. As a Board member, you will take a lead in shaping and defining the company’s future direction, strategic objectives and values.

You should be a strategic thinker, with strong communication skills including an ability to offer constructive challenge, as well as being able to interpret data and performance management information.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring strategic insight, strong financial and operational governance alongside a genuine commitment to our community and public service values as the company enters an exciting period of potential growth, business transformation and operational excellence.

Whilst sector experience is not essential, candidates with relevant experience of operational management, commercial strategy, and customer experience at Board, or executive level, would particularly be welcomed.

Terms

- Allowance: £3,000 per annum (gross)

- Time commitment: Approximately 4 Board meetings per year, with additional Committee responsibilities, training and briefing sessions as required.

- Length of term: Appointment is for 3 years (with a review after 12 months).

- Applicants for public appointments must be legally entitled to work in the UK.

How to Apply

Full details of the role can be found in the candidate pack, which includes the role description, person specification and application form. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are particularly keen to hear from those currently under represented on boards, including women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, and those with disabilities.
