An exciting opportunity to become part of the Manchester Cellular Pathology Genomics Centre is waiting for you.

In association with NHSE Genomic Medicine and North West Genomics Laboratory Hub (NW GLH) , Manchester NHS Foundation Trust is hosting one of the National Cellular Pathology Genomic Centres (CPGC).

Manchester CPGC service is for patients with a suspected solid tumour cancer, requiring specialised intervention and management. Patient samples for genomic testing will either be derived from the existing MFT internal workload or be referred by regional pathology laboratories in other trusts.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated Specialist Biomedical Scientists, you will be experienced and operating as a Biomedical Scientist in Histopathology, in line with ISO 15189 standards, providing scientific services to customers and patients to aid pathological diagnosis.

You'll deputise for senior team members and manage workflow, support with the management of documentation and general overall performance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cellular Pathology Genomics Centre team at the Trust and to help shape future strategy and services for our local population

The post-holder will act a HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist, providing scientific services to patients and customers to aid pathological diagnosis.

The department will prepare tissue for the North West Genomics Laboratory Hub to deliver combined DNA-/RNA- NGS panel analysis according to the NGTD.

You will perform immunohistochemistry and undertake neoplastic cell content assessment on tumour tissues prior to Genomics testing, and participate in the Tissue-i EQA scheme

You are expected to support the day-to-day operation of throughput in the department. You will also undertake analytical, technical and administrative troubleshooting to ensure reliable service delivery. In addition, the performance of quality audits and the research and participation in development / implementation of new procedures are essential to support service improvements and development.
