This is a very exciting opportunity to help shape a service development at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The team is expanding to provide a high-quality technical support service to both Theatres and Critical Care. This includes supportinganaesthetic machines, physiological monitoring systems and a range of ventilators that have previously been supported by external maintenance contracts.
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Technologist with a passion for delivering high-quality care and excited to work in challenging clinical environments. You will be supported with a comprehensive mix of internal and external training.
The Clinical Engineering section provides a whole-life medical equipment management service. The team is made up of highly skilled technologists, engineers and Clinical Scientists who cover various functions including:
• Advice & assistance with selection of medical devices and accessories
• Capital planning and replacement
• Acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment
• Planned Periodical Maintenance (PPM)
• Repairs and Corrective maintenance
• Coordination of safety actions and notices
• Decommissioning of redundant equipment
• Maintaining a database and records of all medical equipment
The Section has specialist workshops in NNU, Critical Care, Theatres, NHNN, Westmoreland Street and the RNTNE Hospital.
The purpose of the role is:
· To provide senior level, technical and engineering support to the Critical Care NHNN workshop, covering all Critical Care and Theatre areas involving fault diagnosis, repair and servicing including workshop tidiness, records of work done and stock control.
· To work according to an agreed rota, in liaison with the Team leader, so as to provide continuity of cover.
· To contribute to the development of the service by way of process improvement, work instructions etc.,
· To participate in supervision and training of less experienced technologists,
· To set up equipment for use, explaining the use and interpretation of readings to clinical staff.
