Are you passionate about community development and bringing people together? Birmingham Community Leisure Trust is looking for a motivated and community-focused Community Engagement Officer to help transform our leisure centres into vibrant community hubs.

About the Role
As a Community Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in building strong relationships with local communities, voluntary organisations, and partners. You’ll help ensure our leisure centres offer more than just physical activity – creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, feel supported, and thrive.
You will work across various leisure centres in Birmingham, identifying opportunities to deliver inclusive, community-focused activities that meet the diverse needs of local residents.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations and partners
- Create and manage a comprehensive community contact database
- Identify and develop opportunities for community activities within leisure centres
- Liaise with centre staff to book and coordinate activities and sessions
- Support organisations once activities are established
- Assist with member sign-ups and site tours where required
- Identify and support applications for external grant funding
- Contribute to and lead the BCLT Sport & Community Engagement Plan
- Support centre staff with community-related queries
- Assist with advertising and promotion of activities
- Ensure equality, diversity, safeguarding, and privacy needs are understood and met

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- A team player who can build trust and positive relationships
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple projects
- Flexible and able to work under pressure
- Confident using IT and Microsoft Office packages
- Passionate about equality, diversity, and safeguarding

Essential Requirements
- A community development qualification and/or relevant leisure/community experience
- A full, current driving licence
- Willingness to travel across Birmingham as required
