We are working in partnership with a specialist school in Skelmersdale who support pupils with additional needs ages 2-11. The school are looking to recruit Welfare Assistants to support over lunchtime, from 11.30am-1.30pm, due to an increase in pupil numbers. The role is to start as soon as possible. It will be a long term role with the view to have the opportunity to apply to transfer over to a permanent contract for the right person.

The school is rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED and they have held this status for over the last 10 years! The school prides itself on striving to provide fantastic teaching and learning in an inclusive environment where all learners are cared for, valued and respected. They are a growing school providing personalised learning to meet individual need and are proud of the positive relationships they build with all their pupils and their families. Ideally looking for Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Health and Social Care Qualification or equivalent. You will need to have experience in supporting pupils with SEND this could come from a wide range of backgrounds from own family members, sports coaching, social/residential care, mainstream or specialist schools.

The required experience for this role: -

  • Passionate in supporting children of all levels and with all different needs
  • Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant or Health & Social Care qualification is preferred, but not essential if you have relevant experience
  • Available to start in January, and ability to commit to the hours (11.30am-1.30pm) and days (Monday to Friday) required
