Hours: Full-time, permanent
On-call requirement: Yes (shared rota)

We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Manager to join our growing children’s residential service and support the Registered Manager in delivering outstanding care and life-changing outcomes for the young people we support.

About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and operation of the home, ensuring a high standard of care, positive culture and full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager and lead a dedicated staff team, supporting them to deliver consistent, therapeutic and child-centred practice. You will also contribute to budget management, staff development and the strategic progression of the home.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the daily running of the home, ensuring the welfare, safety, education and development of young people.
• Ensure full compliance with all legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with external agencies, social workers, education providers and partner organisations.
• Supervise, coach and develop staff to maintain high standards of professional practice and safeguarding.
• Support with budget planning, monitoring and financial decision-making.
• Interpret and implement changes in legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training of staff to ensure robust service delivery.
• Promote a positive, proactive health & safety culture across the home.
• Act as part of the on-call rota, providing support and guidance to the team.

Essential Requirements
• Professional qualification such as QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or working towards).
• Minimum 1 year supervisory or managerial experience in a residential/care environment.
• Minimum 1 year experience working in a children’s residential setting.
• Full driving licence.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and regulatory frameworks.
