We are recruiting a Social Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 18.5 hours Week 1 – 7.24 Wednesday – Friday

Week 2 – 7.24 Thursday – Friday)


Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time
Location: Tredomen

Team: Adult Services, Older People

We are recruiting a Social Worker who has the right values, motivation and commitment to work in a challenging yet rewarding environment. There is significant emphasis on achieving best practice.

The successful candidate will be required to practice in accordance with National Occupational Standards for Social Work and Code of Practice for Social Care Workers to deliver an effective social work service. An understanding of current legislation and policy in Wales will be essential.

The post will involve working with individuals to help them find appropriate solutions at times of difficulty, as well as in the long term. It will also entail safeguarding people from abuse and neglect. Where intervention is required, you will be expected to provide a proportionate and timely response to support individuals and their carers.

The post holder will undertake assessments, reviews and contribute to the duty rota within the team. Those applying will need to have a good understanding of an outcome- focused approach to social work and the application of the principles & eligibility criteria set out in the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014.

For the role, we ask that you have:

A Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification.
Successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1st April 2016).
The ability to assess and devise care and support plans in a creative manner to promote wellbeing.
A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit clients and attend meetings.
