About the Role
The role involves working as part of the team to provide high-quality, targeted support to individual pupils, enabling them to make good academic and personal progress. Under the direction of the SENCo and classroom teacher, the post holder supports pupils with identified needs by reinforcing learning, removing barriers to progress, and promoting confidence, independence, and positive behaviour. The role includes assisting with teaching and learning activities, delivering interventions, supporting pupils in and out of the classroom, and contributing to their social, emotional, and educational development. Effective communication with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies, along with participation in training and school activities, is an essential part of the role.
Personal Qualities
Qualifications:
• GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Minimum Level 3 NVQ/NNEB/TA.
Experience and Knowledge:
• Experience of working within an education or health care setting.
• Experience of working within education with a numeracy/literacy focus.
• Ability to support the subject teachers in the planning of lessons.Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong Literacy Skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to break down information so it can be easily relayed.
• Be well organised, forward thinking and be able to problem solve.
Personal Attributes:
• Committed to the well-being of children and young people.
• Patient and has the ability to relate to young people.
