Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Deputy Director of Informatics (Clinical Systems) to lead the strategic development and delivery of our clinical systems portfolio.

In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for the deployment, optimisation, and performance of key systems including Millennium, Sectra, WinPath, and EMIS. You will oversee the successful delivery of the Millennium programme and associated digital initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and deliver measurable benefits for patients and staff.

Working closely with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders, you will drive interoperability, digital maturity, and continuous improvement across the Trust and wider health community. You will provide expert leadership to a multidisciplinary informatics team, manage significant budgets and resources, and represent Informatics at senior governance forums.

You will have substantial senior management experience in NHS Informatics or a comparable healthcare setting, a relevant degree (Master’s desirable), and a strong track record of delivering large-scale clinical systems programmes. Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, alongside a passion for digital innovation, equality, and high-quality patient care.

To ensure an organisation has the required cost effective systems, information and technology services needed to provide excellent clinical care to its patients, in conjunction with its partners throughout the wider health community.

Are accountable for the smooth running of the clinical applications and integration of systems across the Trust.

Responsible for producing results that are capable of achieving the benefits defined in the programme Business Case.

Responsible for the strategic development of electronic record services and development of clinical technology, and for working with stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured and reviewed for inclusion in one or more programmes of delivery.

Daily responsibilities include providing routine status reports, regular updates and expert level input into project board meetings and steering committees related to clinical systems. Other key responsibilities include the delivery of agreed informatics strategy jointly with ICT and Information teams, ownership of significant budget allocation, operational leadership, staffing demands and capabilities and ensuring a suitable team of experts are available to the Trust to provide the smooth and safe operational delivery of the clinical systems.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of theNorth East London Cancer Alliance

We run aWomen’s Health Hub in Ilford; anAgeing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) atBarking Community Hospital and atSt George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
