Summary
Neway International are seeking a Social Worker to join our client Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.
Location: Cynon Principal Office, Aberdare
Hours: 37.5 per week (09:00 – 17:30)
Start Date: 5 January 2026
End Date: 20 March 2026
Pay Rates: PAYE £22.20 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £29.16 per hour

Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council’s Community Services directorate is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of vulnerable adults. The team provides high-quality social work practice in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, ensuring individuals receive the support they need to live independently and safely.
The Role
We are recruiting one qualified Social Worker (Grade 11) to cover a vacancy within the Community Services team. This role is based in Cynon Offices, Aberdare, with an expectation to attend the office at least once per week. Agile working is supported, with equipment provided.
The successful candidate will manage complex cases, undertake statutory assessments, and deliver outcome-focused care planning. You will also provide supervisory support to colleagues and act as deputy in the absence of the Team Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory assessments and develop outcome-focused care plans.
Review care plans regularly to ensure they meet individual needs.
Balance safeguarding responsibilities with promoting independence.
Provide direct support to individuals with physical disabilities, mental health needs, substance misuse issues, and those transitioning from children’s to adult services.
Offer guidance and supervision to Social Workers.
Act as deputy for the Team Manager when required.
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Registered with Social Care Wales.
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience.
Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and person-centred approaches.
Proven ability to manage complex caseloads.
High standards of written communication and everyday practice.
