Joiners Mate - Training Opportunity (Junior Role)

Our client operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK, with a strong presence in the East and West Midlands and the North West of England. They work with local authorities across these regions and, as a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), deliver connection and jointing services for some of the UK's top housing developers. They also work on both Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) networks across the country.

We're looking for a motivated junior candidate to join our client's team as a Joiners Mate Trainee. This is your chance to start a career in street lighting and electrical networks, with full Jointers Mate training provided and a salary increase upon completion.

What the Role Involves

As a trainee Joiners Mate, you will:

  • Assist jointers with the preparation and jointing of cables.
  • Learn how to safely excavate and reinstate joint holes on footpaths, newbuild sites, and existing roads.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of street lighting and highway electrical equipment.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles appropriate to the role (training provided).
  • Carry out risk assessments and follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Work as part of a team or independently as your skills develop.
  • Contribute to ICP connection projects and highway lighting projects across regional areas.

Training & Progression:

  • Full Jointers Mate training provided to help you gain the essential skills for the role.
  • Salary increase upon successful completion of training.
  • Opportunities for ongoing career development and growth within the business.
