Summary
The Trust has an exciting opportunity for Trust Doctors to join our Emergency Medicine Team.
This post is available for appointment at the February changeover and successful applicants must be able to commence employment on 4 February. This start date is fixed and cannot be delayed.
The postholder will undertake the normal duties associated with this grade and specialty and will be an integral part of a friendly, efficient and ambitious Emergency Department.
Applicants must:
• Hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise, or be eligible to obtain this by the start date.
• Be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
• Be able to commence employment on4 February. This requirement is essential and applicants who cannot meet this start date should not apply.
• Be able to complete all required pre-employment checks, including right to work, occupational health clearance and satisfactory references in advance of the start date.
Applicants requiring visa sponsorship must be able to meet all Trust and Home Office requirements and commence employment by4 February. Delayed start dates cannot be accommodated.
• Undertake “shop floor” clinical duties, assessing and managing emergency patients efficiently and safely within prescribed timeframes to minimise harm and clinical risk.
• Work effectively as part of the Emergency Department team, communicating clearly with patients, General Practitioners and hospital colleagues.
• Communicate and work closely with senior clinicians within the department at all times.
• Participate fully in all pillars of clinical governance, including audit, quality improvement and risk management activity.
• Contribute to the delivery of high quality, patient-centred emergency care within a busy clinical environment.
Middle Grade or Consultant support is available at all times, including nights and weekends.

The duties of the post are the normal duties of a doctor in this grade and specialty and he/she will be an integral part of this pleasant, efficient and progressive department, providing immediate medical care, and assisting in reviewing all follow-up patients.
The successful applicant will be encouraged to attend appropriate conferences and courses. The ability to work within a team and communicate effectively with patients, GP’s and hospital colleagues is essential.
Educational support is provided to all junior medical staff, whether in established training grades or not. A weekly educational programme takes place within the department, including a monthly simulation practice session, and there is an opportunity to present interesting cases for the learning of all. Study Leave is also available and encouraged for life support courses.
Clinical Governance meetings occur three monthly. Audit topics are available if required, but we support and encourage individual audits.
We also support individual training needs by means of an allocated Educational Supervisor and aim to support applicants in obtaining other specialty experience before embarking on their continued career. We have a good record for Trust Grade doctors entering training after a period of time working in the department in Peterborough.
