We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Consultant Radiologist with a sub-speciality interest in urological imaging to join our existing team
This post is to enable us to deliver a sustainable and high quality service, support the growing needs of faster diagnosis standards and improve turnaround times, while delivering comprehensive diagnostic urology and general radiology services to West London.The post will be based at The Hammersmith Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and community diagnostic centres in west London depending on need.
The successful applicants should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and be within 6 months of their CCT. They should have a specialist interest in urology imaging.
We are planning to hold the Consultant interview panel (AAC) on 29/1/25 at Hammersmith Hospital, W12 0HS.
This is a 1.0 WTE consultant post. The successful candidate will have sub-speciality skillsin urological imagingand will be expected to contribute to the delivery of a combination urological and general radiology.
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in urology imaging. The candidate will need to work closely with the current team across our three sites. They should have experience in reporting US, CT and MR imaging of the renal tract and prostate. Experience in a tertiary urology MDT setting and reporting of andrological imaging is desirable
In addition to the sub-specialist programmed activities, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the general work including general oncology and acute cross-section. Experience in major trauma reporting desirable. Inpatient and emergency work is delivered by the large consultant team across 7 days, including a daytime duty rota, scheduled, infrequent, flexible sessions at weekends and extended weekdays.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching and training within our department. A research background would be welcomed.
The applicants must hold a CCT in Clinical Radiology (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT. Candidates with appropriate accreditation who wish to work only part-time are encouraged to apply.

The main responsibilities of the post holder will be to provide urology expertise with specific training in all aspects of urology imaging. This will include taking part in our RAPID prostate same day diagnostic imaging pathway and providing urology imaging support for faster diagnostic service scans across the week.
The individual will help reduce our urology imaging turnaround times as well as support other well-established services such as the same day haematuria clinic. They will also be expected to lead specialist urological MDTs (prostate, renal and urothelial). The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to general work in the department.
