Summary

The post holder will show the ability to balance clinical excellence with academic productivity, working collaboratively to drive innovation, service development and evidence-based practice within interventional radiology. The balance between direct clinical care activities and supporting programmed activities will be agreed with the successful candidate as part of the initial job planning process. The successful applicant will also take part in the interventional radiology on call rota. Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCT. The post holder will join the UCLH interventional radiology team. The team is made up of eight consultant radiologists, Dr Jowad Raja, Dr Graham Munneke, Dr Conrad Von Stempel, Dr Ahmed Al-Nowfal, Dr Miles Walkden, Dr Julian Hague, Dr Jocelyn Brookes and Dr An Ngo.The interventional radiology team is part of the larger UCLH radiology department, with 60 consultant radiologists. The post-holder will be accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director. The post is within Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board. The Imaging Division is made up of two separate departments, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. There is a Divisional management team, including a Divisional Clinical Director, a Divisional Manager and a Matron for the Division (shared with GI services). Nuclear Medicine is a tertiary referral unit, undertaking the full range of Nuclear Medicine tests, including PET/CT and PET/MR. Radiology forms the larger element of the Division, and is made up of a number of sub-specialty teams, which reflect the case mix of the wider Trust. The main duties of this post are as follows: Ability to perform most aspects of vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology, including uro-radiology and HPB. Develop the academic IR service under the guidance of the clinical lead and DCD. Participate in teaching and training Participate in audit Contribute to clinical research via the UCL Centre for Medical Imaging. The post-holder must have subspecialty experience in Interventional Radiology, as well as general / oncology cross sectional radiology, to support the delivery of services, at UCH. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and research and the post-holder would be expected to participate in these. The post-holder will work together with multidisciplinary teams to develop and provide the IR Radiology services within the Department and to ensure development of the service under the guidance of the clinical lead. The post carries a requirement for IR on-call service. Currently this is a 1 in 7 rota (with prospective cover) and attracts a 2 PA supplement.
