Summary

The RMBC Supported Employment Team assist people to learn new skills, remove the barriers that are preventing them from working and support people to gain meaningful employment through the DWP funded Connect to Work project

The Employer Engagement Officer will develop and maintain strong relationships with local employers to create sustainable employment opportunities for individuals supported by our services. This role is key to bridging the gap between job seekers and businesses, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

The Employer Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in creating inclusive employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, health conditions, or other barriers to work. This position focuses on building strong, sustainable partnerships with local employers to promote diversity and equality in the workplace.

The role involves advocating for supported employment principles, educating employers on the benefits of hiring inclusively, and ensuring that job roles are adapted to meet both business needs and individual capabilities.

By working collaboratively with employers, job coaches, and candidates, the Employer Engagement Officer helps remove barriers, implement reasonable adjustments, and foster environments where every individual can thrive.

It is essential that the applicant has a working knowledge of employability issues including training and upskilling.

The key responsibilities of the role will be.

Employer Relationship Management

Identify, engage, and build partnerships with employers across various sectors
Promote the benefits of inclusive recruitment and workforce diversity.
Act as the main point of contact for employers, providing ongoing support and advice.

Job Development

Source and secure job vacancies, work placements, and apprenticeships
Match candidates to suitable roles, ensuring alignment with employer needs.
Negotiate job carving or adjustments to meet individual and employer requirements.

Advisory & Support

Provide guidance to employers on reasonable adjustments and best practices for supporting employees.
Deliver presentations and workshops to raise awareness of supported employment.

Data & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of employer engagement activities and outcomes.
Monitor and report on performance against targets and KPIs
Be responsible for attracting new customers to join the project and you will raise awareness of the project in the wider community.

Supporting the team with identifying opportunities for Participant engagement growth where required

Shortlisting and interview criteria

Experience in employer engagement, recruitment, or business development, delivering positive sustainable outcomes
Knowledge of supported employment principles and inclusive recruitment practices
Strong communication and networking skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
Competent in using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
Ability to work independently and manage a caseload.
Experience in working with individuals with disabilities or health conditions in an employment related setting
Understanding of local labour market trends and skills shortages in the area
Experience of delivering presentations or training to employers.
Full valid driving license, access to a vehicle and the ability to drive across the borough
