Crynodeb
An exciting, fixed term, dermatology consultant opportunity has become available. This is based in the Dermatology Department at Croydon University Hospital within the South West London group.
We are a dynamic forward thinking team located in a dedicated dermatology department within the main Hospital. Other work locations, including off-site working, may be agreed in your Job Plan where appropriate.
You will be a valued member of the team. You will be able to have a varied patient mix but also be supported to develop a special interest clinic if you wish.
We currently have special interest clinics in Mohs surgery, joint complex surgical clinic, plastics clinic, photodermatology, paediatric dermatology and systemic/ biologic clinics including nurse and pharmacist led.
We are an active research and teaching department, and it is possible to get involved with this as well as in managerial positions.
The successful candidate will be undertaking a mix of general dermatology, urgent skin cancer clinics (USC), minor ops clinics, paediatric dermatology and ward work on a shared rota. Mohs surgeons are welcome to apply as we have a Mohs lab on site.
This post is available full-time or part-time / job share, providing flexibility to suit candidates’ availability.
A permanent consultant position will be considered following the fixed term period.
Essential Criteria: Consultant Dermatologist on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology and good team working.
The proposed Job Plan is included in the JD for reference. Please note that Job Plans are subject to review by your Clinical Head of Service and Clinical Director.

5 consultants with specialities including paediatric dermatology, Mohs surgery, complex surgery, vulval, photodermatology
1 plastic surgeon once weekly clinic and lists
2 Speciality doctor
1 Trust grade Registrar
1 Prescribing pharmacist for systemic and isotretinoin
1 Advanced Nurse practitioner
Nurse led clinics including patch test, phototherapy, teledermatology, biopsy lists
MacMillan skin cancer nurse
Close working with the maxillofacial team
Strong links with local hospitals in the south west London network and teaching opportunities at St George's medical school and in house medical student rotations.
Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides Hospital & Community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon.
These include:
• Croydon University Hospital
• Purley Hospital (please note the building is currently undergoing a £11 million refurbishment and the only service operating is the Urgent Care Service for minor injuries and illnesses)
• The Sickle Cell & Thalasaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
• Community bases at the Crystal Centre, Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside and others throughout Croydon
• A Minor Injuries Unit at New Addington

This is a Consultant post. The remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi– disciplinary team providing and further developing care of dermatology patients, and to provide and develop dermatology services to Croydon Health Services patients. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.
It is envisaged that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of inpatient, outpatient and emergency work (ward / A&E referrals).
