To carry out fault diagnosis, repair and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) work on all electrical building services and equipment within Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) and any other local Trusts/organisations to which SCFT provide a service. To apply a flexible attitude and approach to carrying out all assigned tasks. To provide support and advice to semi- skilled and Apprentice engineering staff. The successful candidate must have good time management skills, be able to work alone or unsupervised when necessary and be very Health and Safety aware.

The postholder will apply a flexible attitude and approach to carrying out all assigned tasks.

The postholder will have incidental contact with patients such as giving wayfinding instructions.
• The post holder will be expected to undertake skilled electrical craft duties to enable effective fault diagnosis and repair to a wide range of plant and equipment as detailed below:

· Gas fired appliances.

· Oil fired boilers.

· Catering equipment

· Heating, hot and cold-water systems

· Waste-water systems

· Laundry equipment

· Emergency generators

· Fire alarm systems and fire-fighting equipment

· Lifts (Passenger and goods)

· Air conditioning systems

· Portable electrical appliances

· Domestic electrical appliances

· Various other types of Electrical equipment

Use digital and analogue test and monitoring instruments for effective testing and fault finding.
• Carry out minor new works as directed by the Head of Estates Operations or Estates M&E Managers
• Interpret and work from appropriate instructions, drawings and specifications.
• To record accurately details of works completed including time, date, job content, location and materials used. Update logbooks, registers and other statutory records as directed by theHead of Estates Operations or M&E Managers.
• Assist other trade staff as instructed by the Head of Estates Operations or Estates M&E Managers
• Communicate with service users in arranging access and confirming work requirements.

a) A full set of tools will be supplied and maintained by the tradesperson. Power tools and access equipment will be provided for which the post holder will be responsible for the maintenance and security.

b) Will be required to fully participate in the effective running of a Labour Management system (where applicable).

c) Maintain cleanliness and safety of his/her work area and workshop/storage areas.

d) Attend training sessions, seminars and courses for the purpose of self-development as directed by the Estates Manager or Estates Officers. Attend manufacturers training courses for engineering plant and equipment as required.

e) The post holder must wear the personal protection equipment provided and follow safety precautions. He/she should familiarise himself/herself with the Estates Department Tradesperson Safety Manual and ensure that safe working practices are adhered to in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

f) The post holder must possess a full and clean UK driving licence and be prepared to use own car to travel between SCFT properties to undertake duties. Reimbursement is made for all authorised travel.

g) Be prepared to participate in an on-call rota for which he/she will receive additional remuneration.
