Job Title: Support worker/Personal Assistant
Hours per week: 5 hours a week, mainly on weekends, but could also involve weekdays. Days/times can be flexible; to be discussed at interview.
Location: Llandudno Junction, Conwy
Rate of pay: £14.80 per hour
About me:
I am looking to hire a Personal Assistant to support our family, principally my two boys with Additional Needs of 9 and 11 years of age, on excursions and with outdoor activities. My younger boy needs 1:1 care to keep him safe; my elder boy uses a wheelchair at times, and would like to spend a bit more 1:1 time with Mum.
This role will involve either accompanying our family to watch the boys whilst on a trip out, or taking one child out individually, for instance to the park or for an ice cream. Accompanying the family to swimming lessons on a Saturday morning could be another duty; to be discussed at interview.
Experience with autism and ADHD would be handy and preferable, but not essential. Most importantly, you will always have a calm and patient manner. Access to a car and appropriate business insurance would be useful and preferable, but not strictly essential.
Training for manual handling, if necessary, will be available.
Task and duties, to include any or all the following:
To attend an activity of choice at weekends, or potentially at flexible times during weekdays, if agreed.
To keep watch and maintain mindfulness at all times (for example, to prevent running into the road).
To be always calm and patient in manner and temperament.
Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed.
Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed.
What you can expect from me:
A safe, friendly, and welcoming workplace where you will be valued.
Flexibility with working hours.
Supervision and support.
Access to training and learning opportunities.
5.6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata).
Competitive rates of pay.
Knowing that you make a difference to my family’s quality of life.
The kind of person I am looking for is someone who:
Will promote and support confidence and independence.
Has a person-centered approach and a genuine interest in supporting people to achieve their goals.
Can follow instructions and will establish a professional standard of care, to be always maintained.
Will not use their personal mobile phone at work unless in an emergency.
Is trustworthy, kind, punctual and reliable.
Is patient and supportive with good listening skills and an ability to provide non-judgmental emotional support.
Maintains confidentiality and respects the privacy of the family, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
Can work flexibly, adapting to the variable requirements of this role as required.
The role is dependent upon a DBS and 2 references.
We are not able to offer sponsorship so proof of Right to Work in the UK is essential.
Please be aware that this role is being advertised on behalf of an individual employer and you will not be employed by The Rowan Organisation, nor will we be held responsible for any situation arising from your employment.
The Rowan Organisation is a registered charity which supports people who employ their own staff through Direct Payments.
